Garold W. Vankirk, 78, of Napoleon passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at his home.
He was born near Batesville July 26, 1935, the son of Cloyd and Edna (Eaton) Vankirk.
He married Darlen Kreuzman Aug. 11, 1956, and she preceded him in death Oct. 1, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Jane Ann) Vankirk and Bob “Mouse” (Tena) Vankirk, both of Napoleon; one daughter, Kathy (Brian) Samples of Versailles; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Vankirk of Morris.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Harold Vankirk.
Mr. Vankirk was a 1953 graduate of Napoleon High School.
He was co-owner of Schuler Products in Napoleon until 1964 when he began work in the tool and die department of Batesville Casket Company. He worked there until retiring in 2004.
Garold was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon and was a 60-year member of the Napoleon Fire Department.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, Sister Shirley Gerth officiating.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Burial follows in St. Maurice Cemetery, Napoleon.
