Greensburg — Betty J. Loyd, 77, Greensburg, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left this life behind to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg.

Born Aug. 10, 1935 in Rushville, she was the daughter of Chester and Anna (Power) Harper.  

Betty was a 1953 graduate of Rushville High School. She moved to Greensburg and worked as a telephone operator for many years. She also had worked at Clearing House and IGA.

She was a homemaker, a loving wife, a caring and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an active member of St. Lawrence Auxiliary for 22 years.

She married William Loyd Jan. 18, 1958, and he preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, John (Synita) of George, and Doug (April) of Greensburg; two daughters, Susie of Greensburg and Mary of Greensburg; three sisters: Martha Stephen, Kokomo, Helen Moore, Fountaintown, Violet Miller, Centerville; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Jimmy, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.

A public rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg, Rev. John Meyer officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
