Greensburg — Leon S. McCammon, 90, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Aspen Place, Greensburg.

He was born March 15, 1923 in Letts, the son of John C. and Martha (Foster) McCammon.

He was a 1940 graduate of Letts High School and attended the University of Alabama and Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946, in which he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church Greensburg, and the American Legion and VFW. He was a financial officer for 38 years before retiring. Leon also had the distinction of being an Eagle Scout.  He married Martha (Foster) McCammon Sept. 21, 1947 in Letts, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage this past September.

She survives at the home.

Other survivors include one daughter Susan (Jeff Krueger) McCammon of Red Wing, Minn.; one son: Mark McCammon of South Bend,; one sister: Joan Domrow of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren also survive: Nickolas and Spencer McCammon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter: Holly McCammon, three brothers: Milo, Harold, and Neal McCammon; and one sister: Doris Waymire.

Friends may call at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home Sunday, April 7, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Monday April 8, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
