Greensburg — Katherine “Katy” Favors, 83, of St. Paul, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2013, at Major Hospital, Shelbyville.

Katy was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Clarksburg, the daughter of Edward and Lottie (Shreeves) Kelley. She married James H. “Jiggs” Favors Nov. 14, 1948, and he survives.

A lifetime resident of Decatur County, Katy worked as a cashier at Childers Market for many years. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Paul High School, a member of the Union Chapel Church and the Euchre Card Club.

In addition to her loving husband of 64 years, Katherine leaves behind her beloved cat and companion, Big Kitty.

Katy is also survived by her children, Linda Hire of Greenwood; Mary Favors of Greensburg; Harvey (Sylvia) Favors of St. Paul; David (Jana) Favors of Shelbyville; and Scott (Margie) Favors of Virginia; her sisters Laura Frances Moore and Wilma Jean Simpson; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one more special great-granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy Tom Kelley.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul. Funeral services begin at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, Adrian C. Scripture officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
