---- — Charles L. Flick Jr., 87, of the Hopewell community near Holton, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
He was born near Holton Dec. 7, 1926, the son of Charles and Emma (Detraz) Flick.
He married Mabel Comer Oct. 15, 1949; his wife of 64 years survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Margaret Ann (Herbert) Wilken of Anderson, and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Flick was a 1944 graduate of Holton High School.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Corporal receiving the Army Occupation of Germany Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He was also a farmer, and he worked at Cummins Engine in Columbus from 1956 to 1983.
Charlie was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and the Osgood Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Hopewell Baptist Church, Rev. Dan Barringer officiating.
Burial follows in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church.
The Osgood Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund.
