---- — Sr. Jonette Scheidler, O.S.F., 97, of Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the convent.
She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Millhousen, the daughter of Paul and Clara (Herbert) Scheidler.
She entered the convent Sept. 8, 1946 and made her final vows Aug. 12, 1952. Sr. Jonette was an elementary school teacher for 57 years, teaching mostly fifth and sixth grade.
Schools at which she taught include: Little Flower, St. Christopher, Holy Trinity and St. Mark schools in Indianapolis; St. Mary School in North Vernon; St. Mary School in Greensburg; St. Louis School in Batesville; St. Andrew School in Richmond; St. Joseph School in Shelbyville; St. Joseph School in St. Leon; St. Mary School in Rushville; Sacred Heart School in Fairfield, Ohio and St. Catherine School in St. Louis, Mo. Recently, she served as a minister of Prayer and Praise at the Motherhouse in Oldenburg.
She is survived by her sister, St. Janice Scheidler, O.S.F., Oldenburg, and her brother, Anthony Scheidler, Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Norbert, Paul, Maurice and Urban Scheidler.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, March 10, at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will take place in the Motherhouse cemetery.
