Michael Lee Green, 44, moved from this life to the next on the evening of March 25, 2014, at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, Tenn. He was born June 14, 1969 in Greensburg, the remarkable son of Billy Lee and Rose (Luttel) Green.
Michael, often said to be uniquely authentic, graduated from Greensburg High School in 1987. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Heron School of Art, where he graduated with honors.
Michael’s illuminating imagination inspires others to see the mundane as extraordinary though his passion for art and photography. Among his many outstanding achievements, several pieces of his work were published in magazines and displayed in art galleries. He loved the outdoors and collecting artifacts, capturing their beauty in his photography and artwork.
The following quote was attributed to Michael: “Upon death, it’s my wish to have my thoughts and art to be shared with anyone who has an interest in expanding their own life’s vocabulary, and to help find their soul and its place throughout this vast universe as we know it.”
Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rose and Bud Perdue, Greensburg; brothers, Shawn (Sarah) Green, Greenburg; Rick (Mandy) Perdue, McCordsville, and Ryan (Missy) Perdue, Fishers; grandmother, Joan Luttel, Greensburg; companion, Brittany Adkins, Gatlinburg, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Logan, Luke, Lilli, Samantha and Parker Perdue, Indianapolis; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Green, and grandparents, Alphonse Luttel, Earl Green and Marie Montgomery.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Gilliland Howe Funeral Home. Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, also at the funeral home.
