Andrew H. Hanna, 63, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Margaret Mary Health.
Born Oct. 19, 1949 in Milan, Ind., he was the son of Jeanette (Hughes) and Henry Hanna. He married Carol Pulskamp June 17, 1995, at Batesville United Methodist Church. He worked for the Indiana Department of Roads for 20 years before retiring.
Andy absolutely adored his grandchildren. He took great pleasure in teasing and tormenting them, and even greater pleasure bragging about them. When he wasn’t busy with the grandkids, Andy enjoyed rabbit, squirrel and deer hunting, and he loved to go fishing. He was particular about the lawn, and not only took care of his but several of his neighbors as well.
He had a sweet tooth that included blackberry cobbler and strawberry shortcake among his favorites, but had to cut back on the sweets in recent years. Andy liked Duck Dynasty and was a big fan of NHRA drag racing, the Little League World Series and college football. Other pleasures included working crossword puzzles and a good cigar.
Andy is survived by his wife Carol; daughter Shannon Spurlock of Batesville; brother Larry of North Vernon, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville.
Funeral services begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg, Rev. David Kobak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary Health or the American Heart Association.
