---- — James D. McNeill, 83, of Hartsville, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Jim was born June 12, 1930 in East Chicago, Ind., the son of Joseph and Nancy (Randolph) McNeill.
He married Helen Grace Kuhlman in Chicago on Dec. 12, 1953, and she preceded him in death March 26, 2011.
Jim served in the US Army and retired from AT & T after many years as a system installer. He was a very active member of Westport Christian Church and a former Elder of Waynesburg Christian Church. He was an avid people person and enjoyed fixing anything.
Jim is survived by daughters Lynn Kane of Beavercreek, Ohio; Doria (Paul) Leggat of Ancaster, Ontario, and Janice D. Runyon of Hartsville; son Joseph McNeill of Bloomington; grandchildren Holly (Rob) Cronin of Littleton, Colo.; Joshua Porter of Kettering, Ohio; Jason, Madison and Brooke Leggat of Ancaster, Ontario; Augustus Runyon of North Veron and Corina Runyon of Greensburg; great-grandchildren Abigail and James Cronin of Littleton, Colo.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th Street, Columbus. Rev. Mike Bartlett will officiate.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
