Lourina Bower, 89, of Westport passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
She was born Feb. 14, 1925 in Gnaw Bone, the daughter of Ray Wallace and Eliza Jane (Richards) Crawhorn. She was raised in Brown and Jackson counties. She worked at Muscatatuck State Development Center for 11 years.
She was a member of Sardinia Baptist Church and was in the Missionary Circle. She enjoyed reading, gardening and loved her grandchildren. She married Alva William Bower on Feb. 7, 1948, in Scottsburg and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1968.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy L. (Lewis) Gant, Debbie Morris, Linda (Kenneth R.) Hays, Robbie Sawicki and Pam Maddux, all of Westport; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alva William Bower; son, Jack Bower; two brothers; eight sisters; grandsons, Kenny Hays and Joshua Maddux; and great granddaughter, Kaydence Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rust officiating, burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery south of Alert.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the funeral home.
