---- — Elaine E. Herron, 72, of North Vernon, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Born Feb. 28, 1941 in Greensburg, Elaine was the daughter of Richard and Leona Ortman Davis. She married Gary Herron Nov. 17, 1984. He preceded her in death in June of 1995.
Elaine retired from Cummins, Inc. where she worked as a materials specialist. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed coaching softball, playing golf, cards, and bowling.
She is survived by her mother, Leona Ortman Davis Brewer, of Columbus; daughters, Teresa (Dennis) Gholson, of North Vernon, and Lisa (Doug) Caseltine, of Columbus; one sister, Kathy (Nathan) Garrett, of Columbus; three grandchildren, Ashley (Braden) Grider, Amber Monday, and Brooke O’Mara.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. A rosary service will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
