Greensburg — David Edward Ernstes, 68, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born February 3, 1945 in Greensburg, the son of Ralph and Ruth (Fenley) Ernstes.
David lived in the area his entire life. He graduated from St. Paul High School and went on to become the owner of Dave Ernstes and Sons Trucking Company. He was a member of the Waldron Masonic Lodge #217. He married Beverly Hill on November 7, 1981 and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by his children, Jeff (Angie) Kaster, of Shelbyville, David Lee (Angel) Ernstes, of Shelbyville, Phillip Ernstes, of Shelbyville and Brian (Natalie) Ernstes of N.J.; his sister Janie (Jerry) Buchanan, of Columbus; his brothers Daniel Ernstes of Greensburg, James (Arlene) Ernstes of Jackson, Tn., and Robert Ernstes of Rushville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Osborne.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. during the visitation. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the funeral home, with Rev. Merry Popplewell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shelby County Cancer Association or the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
