---- — A. Phyllis Anderson, 94, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Four Seasons Health Center.
She was born on March 5, 1919 in Decatur County, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Stott. She was born and raised in the Westport area and moved to Columbus in 1987.
She co-owned and operated Anderson Grocery in Westport for 15 years. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church, a former member of Westport Baptist Church and the Dupont Baptist Church. She had served as secretary at the Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp for several years.
She married Gerald V. “Sport” Anderson in Westport Nov. 21, 1936 and he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1973.
She is survived by her children, Donna (James) Johnson of Greensburg, Karen (Jerry) McCullough and Gerald “Jerry” (Sue) Anderson of Columbus; five grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Jessie, Gertrude, Verl, Gladys, Mary and Dorothy; her brothers, Paul, Chris and Ben Stott.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, Rev. David A. Scaggs, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. Visitation on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Westport Baptist Church Building Fund.
