Ada Mae (Johnson) Batman was born May 27, 1928, in Rush County, the daughter of Frank J. Hanley and Barbara (Harden) Johnson.
Ada was the second of four daughters and was 86-years-old when she passed.
Ada attended Clarksburg High School for three years, was a graduate of Frankfort Pilgrim High School and attended Frankfort Pilgrim College for one year.
Her passion was to the children and women of the church. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Frankfort. She was the assistant director for Wesleyan Women in the Indiana Central District for 15 years and directed the Ministers’ Wives and Ladies Retreat in the Indiana Central District for a number of years.
She married Rev. Ernest Ray Batman on July 10, 1948, at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Clarksburg. They were married nearly 66 years.
Ada is survived by her husband; sons, Ronald (Marlene) Batman of Anchorage, Alaska, Mark (Felicia) Batman of Plymouth, Kevin (Teresa) Batman of Fishers; daughters, Barbara (Oliver) Howe of Indianapolis, Beth (Jeff) Gormong of Farmersburg; sister, Helen Jackson of Greensburg; 13 grandchildren, Carissa (Evan) Hawkins, SaraBeth (Nicholas) Krudy, Michael Colter, Luke (Elizabeth) Batman, Emily Batman, Matthew Batman, Benjamin Batman, Bradley Batman, Bailey Jo Batman, Braden Batman, Jaena Gormong, Johanna Kelsey Gormong, Jessica Gormong; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Krudy, Berkeley Hawkins and Lila Batman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kent (twin to Kevin); two sisters, Florence Eckart and Shirley Satterfield.
Always a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, Ada is now with her beloved Savior. While her loved ones are sad and will miss her, they also rejoice with her.
Services were Monday, June 9, at First Wesleyan Church in Frankfort.
Memorials may be made to the Frank J. Hanley Johnson Endowed Scholarship Fund in care of Indiana Wesleyan University or to the First Wesleyan Church in Frankfort.
