Jon “Hootie” Hooten, 51, of Greensburg, passed away July 1, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 18, 1962, in Greensburg, the son of Nancy Wilhoit and Merlyn Hooten.
Jon was a 1980 graduate of Greensburg High School. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Jon worked at Frisch’s as the Kitchen Manager for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, hanging out with his friends and watching the Colts play.
Survivors include his father, Merlyn (Gloria) Hooten, of Columbiana, Alabama; daughters, Jamie (Jerry) Balser, of Elizabethtown, Kayla Hooten, of Sandusky, Jessica Hooten, of Greensburg; companion Evan Kirchner of Greensburg; siblings, Diana (Mark) Scudder, of Greensburg, Rick (Rose) Hooten, of Osgood, Bob Hooten, of Greensburg, Terry Reach, of Alabama, and Robin Meyers; grandchildren, Taylor, Olivia, Abigail and Allison Balser, Joe Catron and Kendall Moore.
He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Wilhoit and granddaughter Allexus Hooten.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Bunting officiating.
