Alfred F. Young, 89, of Napoleon passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
He was born near Napoleon on February 3, 1925, the son of Clem and Clara Kohrman Young.
He was married to Rita Duerstock on June 15, 1949, and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Dale (Becky) Young and Larry (Pam) Young both of Napoleon; two daughters, Janice (Kenny) Fry and Nancy (Bob) Obermeyer, also of Napoleon; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur (Carol) Young of Greensburg. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Deborah Young; his grandson, Brian Obermeyer; and his brother, Raymond Young.
Mr. Young farmed his entire life and was also a former employee of Williamson Heating and Cooling and Bohn Aluminum, both in Greensburg. He was a 54 year member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 at St. Maurice Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rosary services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Napoleon Fire Department or the St. Maurice building fund in care of the funeral home.
