GREENSBURG — Charles Irvin “Tom” Swango, 79, passed to Heaven’s glory Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Morning Breeze nursing home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1933 in Decatur County, son of Charles and Ethel Lewis Swango.

He leaves behind his wife Fae, brother Bill (Phyllis) Swango; sister Sue Kitchin-Reed; sister-in-law Helen Swango; an aunt, Mary Lewis; daughters Jill Swango and Carol (Loren) Wilson; step-sons Dennis (Toni) Decker and Dannie (Sandy) Decker; grandchildren: Sy Thomas Wilson, Kristi Decker Davis, Kelli Jo Decker Coon, Kyle (Cassie) Decker, Ryan Decker, Michelle Decker; great-grandchildren: Hannah Davis and Abe Coon.

He was preceded in death by his brother Howard (Sis) Swango; brother-in law Bob Reed and great-granddaughter Tobi Coon in 2008.

Tom was a 1951 graduate of Greensburg High School. He joined the United States Coast Guard and was radio transmitter on ship when stationed in the Mediterranean Sea area from 1953 to 1957. He belonged to Sandusky United Methodist Church for almost 50 years. He was a farmer all his life and ran a used auto sales company for more than 15 years.

Burns Funeral Home in Milroy in charge of arrangements.

As per Tom’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service, but there will be graveside rites performed by Rev. Richard Waddle at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at Rossburg Cemetery.
