Charlotte J. Gardner, 82, of Westport, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
She was born May 5, 1930 in Colby, Kan., the daughter of Elmer and Verna (Harris) Faidley and had spent most of her life in Indiana.
She worked for Decatur County Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aid for several years. Charlotte was a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church, Westport, where she had served as treasurer. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, plastic canvas and crafts.
She married Robert J. Gardner in Decatur County Nov. 11, 1948. He preceded her in death July 12, 2005.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheila M. Tryon of Westport; sons, Michael W. (Jo Ann) Gardner, Garvin E. (Jenny) Gardner and Archie F. (Sharon) Gardner, all of Westport; sisters, Farene McCullough of Prescott, Ariz. and Eldonna Hutchinson of Highland, Ill.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother, Meredith H. Faidley.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport, Rev. Glenn Black and Rev. Jerry Bell officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts.
A time of visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Pregnancy Care Center of South Central Indiana.
