Greensburg — Mary Christine Coleman, 78, of Westport, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at her residence. She was born on September 7, 1935 in Wilson County, Tenn. She was the daughter of Burley and Alma (Bain) Hughes. She was born and raised in Tennessee, was a resident of Columbus for 30 years and has been a Westport resident since 1991. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Columbus. She married James Coleman on March 12, 1962 in Nashville, Tenn., and he preceded her in death in 1970.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Denise) Foster of Gladstone, Mich.; her daughter, Kim (Steve) Wright of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; her sisters, Lucille Boyd of Columbus, Lorene Turner of Westport, Jean Martin of Gallatin, Tenn., Ruby (Henry) Bogle of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Nell Borersma of Springhill, La.; her brothers, Bobby (Becky) Hughes of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Douglas Hughes of Springhill, La.; her four grandchildren, Amelia (Clint) Seawright of Rock, Mich., Craig Klotz of Gladstone, Mich., Janel Klotz of St. John, Mich. and Mary Evelyn Wright of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; her three great grandchildren, Werner, Adelle and Annette Seawright all of Rock, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, DeLynn Barker, brother, Robert Clyde Hughes and granddaughter, Lauren Eicheid.
The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, with Rev. David Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.bassgasper.com.
