John W Knarr, 87, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, at Heritage House, Greensburg.
John was born in Harris City, Dec. 22, 1925, a son of the late Mamie (Fisher) and Harry Knarr.
John worked as a Farmer on the same farm for 66 years and was a member of Union Baptist Church his entire life. He also served as president of Union Baptist Cemetery.
He served in the US Army in World War Two, serving in the European Theater, 13th Tank Battalion. He received two battle stars for the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns.
He is survived by daughters: DeeDee, wife of Roy Cross, Columbus; Jane, wife of Bill Hitchcock, Greensburg; son: Rollin, husband of Barbara Merritt, of Seymour; and William, husband of Sheral Merritt, Greensburg.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother (Harry and Mamie Knarr); stepmother: Mary Knarr; sister: Mary Fromer; two daughters: Karen Innis and Roxy Merritt; two grandsons: Andy Merritt and Robert Brown; and one great granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 4, at Union Baptist Church, Greensburg, with Pastor Robb Barlow officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service.
