Ronald L. Effing, age 66 of Hamburg, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence, with his loving wife by his side.
Born Aug. 14, 1947 he is the son of Loretta (Nee; Schrank) and John Effing. He married Diane Wissler Aug. 30, 1968 in Richmond. Ron was a carpenter and the owner of Effing and Norton Construction Company.
Ron was an avid deer hunter and he loved to build things, especially new residential home construction and the remodeling of older dwellings. Over the years, he owned several Corvettes that he loved to drive around in. In his spare time, Ron liked to watch old western movies and to go out and eat with his wife Diane.
He enjoyed eating homemade pies for dessert. He loved his dogs, especially Jake, from years ago to most recently Duke, which was an abandoned dog that he took in. Ron’s true passion though was his family, most especially his wife, children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He loved his granddaughter Alexa, whom he was able to visit and spend time with for the nine short days that she lived. Also, most recently being able to hold his grandson Jackson, who was only one week old before Ron passed away, gave him great pleasure.
He is survived by his wife Diane; daughter and son-in-law Stacey and Ben Weaver and grandson Jackson Weaver of Brownsburg; son and daughter-in-law Jeremy and Amber Effing of Greensburg; sisters Pauline Murrie of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rose Rudolf of Ft. Wayne, Marilyn Norton and Linda Luken, both of Greensburg; brothers Ray and Bill Effing, both of Batesville.
