Thomas George Greiwe, 75, of Greensburg, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Oct. 9, 1938 in Greensburg, the son of Raymond and Josephine (Obermeyer) Greiwe.
He had been a lifelong resident of Decatur and Bartholomew counties and was a 1956 graduate of Greensburg High School.
He formerly worked for J. R. Meek Surveying and retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1993 after 35 years of service. He was owner of the Briarwood Mobile Home Park in Westport.
Mr. Greiwe was a member of the Westport Masonic Lodge # 52 F & A.M., FFA and was a Star Farmer in 1956, Greensburg Power of the Past, Florida Fly Wheelers, Tri County Engine Club, Johnson County Antique Tractor Club, Blue River Valley Antique Power Association and Liberty Baptist Church.
He married Ruth A. Burley at Mt. Aerie Baptist Church in Letts June 6, 1959 and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Jill (Brad) Childs of Shelbyville; his son, Thomas Jeffrey (Sandra) Greiwe of Westport; his sisters, Betty (Ray) Sample of Greensburg and Janet (Doug) Einhaus of Westport; his brothers, David (Judy) Greiwe of Columbus and Mike (Barb) Greiwe of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Sara Rae (Luke) Hampton, Thomas Joshua (Brittney) Greiwe, Morgan Childs, Adam (Sara) Childs and Benjamin Childs; his great grandchildren, Ashton and Ryker Hampton and Kyleigh Childs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred Greiwe and sisters, Patricia Lowery, Jane Hailey and Rosemary Collins. The funeral service wil be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, Pastor Jon Porter officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Aerie Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Burney Volunteer Fire Department.
