Granville Lee Tungate, 69

Greensburg — Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Granville Lee Tungate, 69, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 20, 1944 in Lebanon, Ky. to Albert and Nannie (Wilkerson) Tungate, but lived most of his life in Decatur and surrounding counties.

He worked for Art Brown Service in Greensburg for more than 20 years until he was disabled in an accident in 2000.

After recovering, he operated Guy’s Market for eight years, making many new friends with many referring to him as “Guy.”

He faithfully attended Greensburg Wesleyan Church.

He enjoyed NASCAR, jigsaw puzzles and visiting on the porch.

Lee married Linda Knight Aug. 29, 1970 in Greensburg, and she survives. He is also survived by two children, Darren (Tonya) Tungate and Ashlee (Scott) Green, both of Greensburg; eight grandchildren: Elijah, Ella, Elexi, Eva, Evan and Erika Tungate, Nicholas Christianson and Dahlia Green all of Greensburg.

He is also survived by four brothers: Bill (Glenda) Tungate of Moores Hill, Everett Tungate of Shirley, Charles Tungate of St. Omer and David Tungate of Westport; five sisters, Wanell Mueller of Greensburg, Dorothy (Larry) Miller of Butlerville, Dorene (Ed) Elliott of North Vernon, Mary Jane (Mitchell) Smith of Greensburg and Charlene Melton of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Marvin Gene Tungate and his sister, Betty Lou Amburgey.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Greensburg Wesleyan Church located at 634 West Main Street in Greensburg, Pastor Doug Preston officiating.

Burial follows in Milford Cemetery.

A time for visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 at Greensburg Wesleyan Church.

Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
