Greensburg — Melinda Dora, 35, a life-long Rush County resident, passed away October 22, 2013, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. She was born November 22, 1977, to Larry and Jean (Hunter) Johnson.
Melinda was a 1996 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and received her associate’s degree in accounting from Indiana Business College. She married Drew Dora on June 26, 1999 and he survives.
She worked for the State Board of Accounts for many years as an auditor. She also owned and operated Studio 3 in Rushville. Melinda was a member of the Center Christian Church where she was very active in the Praise Band and Worship Ministry. She was also active in the Rush County Relay for Life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by a son, Nathan; daughters, Olivia, Sophia and Natalie Dora, all at home; a brother, Brian (Brandi) Johnson, of Rush County; and grandmother Dorothy Hunter, of Rushville.
Melinda was preceded in death by grandparents John Hunter and Thomas and Marcella Johnson.
Friends and family may visit Center Christian Church in Mays on Friday, October 25, from 1 to 8 p.m. for visitation. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, at Center Christian Church, with Pastor Darryl Denney officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery. Moster Mortuary in Rushville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Indianapolis, Center Christian Church, or to the donor’s favorite charity in Melinda’s name.
