Greensburg — Kelly James Heath, 78, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility after suffering a long battle with Laryngeal cancer. He was born on October 3, 1935, in Crab Orchard, Ky., the son of William and Dollie (Denney) Heath.
He was a longtime resident of Greensburg. He retired from Hill-Rom in 1997, where he worked as a tool & die maker. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 927 in Greensburg, the American Legion # 129 in Greensburg and # 267 in Osgood.
He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served as a Military Police Officer. He was an avid fisherman and loved woodworking, motorcycle rides and his Jeep. While he will be missed by family and friends, he will be sorely missed by his beloved dog, Boomer the Bassett Hound.
He married Shirley L. (Clark) Ewing in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. on June 25, 1998 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Hovious of Spencer, Judy (Garry) Lauziere of Shelbyville and Brenda (Richard) Gelinas of Rushville; son, Glen (Angela) Heath of Fort Worth, Texas; step children, Kenny (Trudy) Ewing of Greensburg, Robert (Sandy) Ewing of Clarksville, Tenn., Lori Ewing of Chicago, Ill. and Roger Ewing of St. Paul,; sister, Lena Morrell of Austin, Texas and brother, Leo Heath of Connersville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nellie Ball, Ellen Alice Brown & Vergie Fay Scgalski; brothers, Donald Heath, Ed Heath and Henry Heath.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. George Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Aerie Cemetery.
