Greensburg — C. Arthur “Art” Smith, 87, passed away Feb. 25, 2013, at Hickory Creek, Greensburg.

He was born July 21, 1925, in Clinton Township, to Ernest J. and Mabel R. (Buell) Smith. He graduated Sandusky High School in 1943, and was a World War II Army Veteran. He married Dorothy “Dotty” L. Waybright Smith Oct. 14, 1949. He was a member of Greensburg United Methodist Church. He was a local building contractor for thirty years and retired after fifteen years as a Relocation Agent for the Indiana State Highway Department.

He’s survived by his wife; his son: Robert A. Smith of Carmel; and his daughter: Sarah L. (John) French of Greensburg. He’s also survived by two granddaughters: Shannon Barnes and Christy Schlemmer, both of Greensburg; two grandsons: Aaron and Isaac French, also of Greensburg; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Sheldon, Robert, and Harold Smith; and daughter-in-law: Pamela Layton Smith.

There will be no public visitation. A private family service took place at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home; Rev. Gregory Pimlott officiated. Burial was at the South Park Cemetery.
