Sr. Gerald Mary Gaynor, 84

Greensburg — Sr. Gerald Mary Gaynor, 84, of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Friday, April 19.

Born Jan. 23, 1929 in Dover, she is the daughter of Johanna (Nee: Fischer) and Louis Gaynor.

She entered the convent Sept. 8, 1946 and made her final vows Aug. 12, 1952. Sr. Gerald was a special education teacher for 29 of her 39 years in teaching. Schools she taught at were Our Lady of Mercy in Dayton, Ohio; St. Mary’s Child Center in Indianapolis, and Holy Trinity Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

After teaching, she returned to the motherhouse to help in the infirmary.

She is survived by her sister Dorothy James, brother Richard Gaynor, both of Guilford, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Bertha Lipps and brother Bernard Gaynor.

Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, April 22 at the motherhouse chapel in Oldenburg.

Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. and Rev. Jerry Welsh officiating.
