Bernice M. Peters, 89, died Friday, April 11, 2014. She had been in gradual failing health for the past few months.
Born Aug. 1, 1924, she was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Vogel) Schoentrup. Bernice married William H. Peters on Nov. 29, 1946, and he survives.
She was a member of the Batesville Christian Church, the local Greensburg VFW Post #5584 and the Live N’ Learn Home Economic Club. In addition, she helped with a food ministry in New Point. Bernice was an expert seamstress, having worked at Fashion Frocks in her early years of marriage. She was a home gardener of fresh fruits and vegetables and led an active, industrious lifestyle. She enjoyed quilting and flower gardening as hobbies.
She is survived by her husband; children, William L. (Rose Marie) Peters, Cynthia M. (Peters) Grote, Kenneth N. (Rita) Peters, and Betsy L. (Tony) Baugh; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Thelma Huber, Paul Schoentrup, Dorothy Morgan, Robert Schoentrup, Zeta Mae Schoentrup, Irvin Schoentrup, Mary Schoentrup and Karl William Schoentrup.
Services are all in one day. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 14, followed by funeral services at 7 p.m., all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will follow at the Kingston Cemetery.
