Thelma Voiles, 99, of Greensburg passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home in Milan.
Thelma was born April 22, 1914 in Batesville, the daughter of William and Lydia Kirschbaum. Thelma attended Batesville Schools. On April 17, 1939, she married Russell E. Voiles in Batesville.
Thelma worked at the Decatur County Community Hospital in the dietary department for more than 25 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Greensburg.
Thelma is survived by her daughter Anita J. (Gene) Pitts, of Milan; three grandsons Steven (Donna) Pitts, of Milan, Dennis (Sarah) Pitts, of Franklin, and Paul Pitts, of San Francisco, Calif. She is also survived by five great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three sisters, Ruth Kirschbaum, Pearl Voiles, and Mary Jane Herbert; and two brothers Ernest and William Kirschbaum.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home.
Thelma’s funeral service will begin Wednesday, May 22 at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
