---- — Robert Gene VanArsdall, 73, passed away Jan. 6, 2014.

Robert was born and raised in St. Paul, Ind., where as a boy he enjoyed fishing in Flat Rock River and photography. He was active in Boy Scouts, DeMolay, and attended St. Paul Christian Church.

Robert graduated St. Paul High School in 1958 and shortly thereafter moved to Southern California, where he lived the rest of his life. He was married several years and attended Junior College. He worked in the aerospace industry 30 years, ending his career at Honeywell Corporation.

Robert always loved the great outdoors, especially the beautiful California desert and western landscapes. He enjoyed gardening, attending church, participating in community activities and was fascinated with the structure of rocks while continuing his passion for photography.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents: John and Doris VanArsdall. He is survived by his sister: Sandra Deckman (James), of Sequim, Wash.; his brother: Glenn VanArsdall (Edith), of Indianapolis; and by nieces and nephews.
