---- — George Washington Ping, 92, of Greensburg and formerly of Milroy and Westport, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Heritage House in Greensburg.

Born Sept. 1, 1920 in Muskogee, Okla., he was a son of the late William L. and Iva Bell (Holtz) Ping.

He married Ova Mae Walkup in 1942. She preceded him in death in 2008.

He is survived by his daughter, Oneta (Dan) Beaver of Bedford; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Bruce) Deckard of Bedford and Scott (Tammy) Beaver of Great Falls, Mont.; one great grandchild, Marshall Gage Deckard of Bedford.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Marvin, Orville, Wilbur and Amos, and one sister, Edith Ping.

George farmed with his brother Wilbur for many years.

He also owned and operated Ping Welding in Milroy for more than 20 years. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II.

Burial will take place at the Oktaha Cemetery in Muskogee County, Okla. Military Honors provided by the Haskell VFW.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
