---- — Esther M. Chapman, 92, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at Morning Breeze Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born May 12, 1921 in Knox County, Ind., she was the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Mabes) Kirchoff.
She had worked at Carol Cook and Garrett Garment Co. She also had worked for Pinkerton Security Services.
She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
She married George W. Chapman Aug. 19, 1949 in Vincennes, and he preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1972.
She is survived by one son, James A. Chapman, Greensburg; two daughters, Cecilia K. (A.G. “Budd”) Mathews, Rushville, Brenda J. Vires, Greensburg; one sister, Nellie Sievers, New York; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Maryellen Chapman; one son-in-law, James Vires; one brother, Nelson Kirchoff; one great-grandson, Kannon J. Vires.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home, Pastor Howard Bullard officiating.
Interment will be held in South Park Cemetery, Greensburg.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
