---- — Joyce Kelley Howard, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at her home.
Joyce was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Greensburg, the daughter of Otto F. Ross and Hattie (Way) Ross.
Joyce had lived in the Shelbyville area for 41 years, working in the office of G.E. Wellman for 30 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Shelby Community Band, and she enjoyed singing in the church choir.
She leaves behind her best friend and companion, her dog Lance.
Joyce is survived by her niece Rhonda Redmon of Shelbyville; three nephews: Ronald (Linda) Eckel of Greensburg, Rossie (Marlene) Brown of Carolina, and Robert McCarty of Florida; a sister, Jean McCarty of Florida; her loving neighbors Ray (Tracy) Griffith II and children, and also several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Alice Sutton and best friend Shirley J. Eckel; and one nephew Richard Brown.
Funeral services begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville, Rev. Mark Morningstar.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the funeral home.
Burial follows in South Park Cemetery, Greensburg.
Memorials may be made to the Shelby County Cancer Association or Our Hospice of Shelby/Decatur in care of the funeral home.
