James L. Dice, 67, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away in Rushville Oct. 14, 2013.
He was born Aug. 25, 1946 in Rushville to Gene and Elizabeth (Buchanan) Dice.
He was a 1966 graduate of New Salem High School. Jim married Brenda Land June 3, 1966 and she survives.
He served in the US Army from 1966-68.
Jim worked many years for GE Wire Mill in Shelbyville, BCA in Greensburg and Fujitsu Ten in Rushville.
He had been a member of First Baptist Church in Rushville and the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department.
Jim was a founding member of the Rushville Volunteer Fire Department, serving as fireman, board member, Assistant Chief and Chief throughout his many years of service.
In addition to his wife, Brenda, of Rushville, he is survived by a son, Ben (Kathy) Dice of Shelbyville; daughters, Jamie (Kevin) Mason, and Shelly Thompson, all of Rushville; a brother, Butch (Phyllis) Dice of Connersville; sisters, Nancy (Danny) Heck of Shelbyville and Penny (Stan) Bockover of Rushville, grandchildren, James Dice, Cassie Mason and Kyle Robbins; step-granddaughters, Katy Gaines and Brandi Epperson and great-grandchildren, Dreyton Epperson and Kamdyn and Kilyn Gaines.
Services with fireman honors will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Moster Mortuary Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Leonard Dice will preside, and burial will be in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery.
The Rush County Veteran’s Honor Guard will provide military rites at the graveside.
