---- — David Joseph Schroeder passed away Oct. 13, 2013 at the age of 71.

Son of the late Joseph and Opal Schroeder, he was born Oct. 27, 1941 in Middletown, Ohio.

When he was five years old, his family moved to a small farm in Greensburg. He served as a medic in the US Navy after graduating from high school.

In 1967 he graduated from Purdue University and began his 31-year career with Procter & Gamble. During his career he worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mexico, and Venezuela. David retired from P&G in 1999 to begin the work that was most important and rewarding to him.

He volunteered as a tutor and mentor at both Mason Middle School and Mason High School, served as a chaperone on youth mission trips to West Virginia and Mexico, campaigned for United Way, and served on the board of FAITH Ministries.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy (Wamsley) Schroeder; sons, Andy (Kathy) Schroeder, Joe (Rahlaunda) Schroeder, Matt (Therese) Schroeder, Jay (Tawnya) Schroeder; 11 grandchildren; sister, Suzanne Holbrook and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at Mason United Methodist Church, 6315 Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason, OH.
