---- — Catherine Ellen Hileman, 68, of Westport, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Morning Breeze Healthcare Center in Greensburg.

She was born Sept. 6, 1945 in Connersville, the daughter of Terrence and Margaret (Abel) Madigan.

She had been a Westport resident for most of her life.

She was a 1963 graduate of Shelbyville High School and received her Bachelor of Science from Indiana State University in 1967 and her Master of Science in 1970 from Indiana State University.

She had taught first grade at Oak Hill School Corporation from 1967 to 1968, first grade at Clinton Prairie School Corporation from 1968 to 1969 and then retired from teaching first grade and kindergarten at Decatur County Community Schools from 1969 to 2002.

She had also worked for Weight Watchers for several years. She was a member of Westport United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers, Decatur County Retired Teachers, Women Educators of Decatur County and Indiana State Teachers Association.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, taking books to the hospital for the books for babies program and enjoyed her membership with the Glory Girls.

She married David L. Hileman at First Methodist Church in Shelbyville July 30, 1967 and he survives along with her daughter, Stephanie Ross of New Albany and son Terry (Autumn) Hileman of Columbus; her grandchildren, Emilyn Grace Ross of New Albany and Ethan Finn Hileman of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Timothy Madigan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, Pastor Maureen Walby officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Following cremation, burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Westport Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice.
