DEAR EDITOR: Thank You...
To the Editor:
We would like to thank Verizon North for their support of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. On May 13, they raised $2,600 for the Relay For Life of Decatur County through a golf outing they hosted at North Branch Golf Course. Verizon North's team of Brooke Heuer, Amber Burkhart, Heather Stauffacher, Shawn Moore and Angie Dilkes put on a first class event. Tee sponsors for the event included Buening Construction, Stier Heating and Cooling, Pizza King, Smith Implement Inc., L.B. Trucking, Kova Fertilizer, Greensburg Milling Inc., Stewart Seeds and Angus Cattle, Wallpe & Trenkamp Heating and Cooling Inc., Milestone, Burkhart Automotive Inc., Nana's House Bed & Breakfast, Advanced Vacuum Services, Herbert Sawmill, Hugh Chambers, Scheidler Glass Inc., Dr. Robert Eversol, DDS, and KB Foods.
Each year, we lose nearly too many loved ones to cancer. In addition to the human loss, cancer also costs us millions of dollars each year in medical costs and lost wages for both patients and their caregivers. Relay For Life is about putting an end to losses due to cancer and minimizing the costs until we get there. Sponsorship dollars raised by businesses like Verizon North help to fund research that will one day find a cure and provide patient services that help cancer patients and their families continue living their lives while they are going through treatment and recovery.
Verizon North, along with Al Moore at RBC Dain Rauscher have sponsored the Wall of Hope banner for Decatur County. This banner, along with over 5,000 like it in communities across America, will be sent to Washington, D.C. in September for Celebration on the Hill. These banners will help America's voice be heard and hopefully inspire federal lawmakers to enact public policy to change the course of cancer in this country.
More information about the Relay For Life of Decatur County and the Wall of Hope is available by calling your American Cancer Society at 800.ACS.2345.
Thank you again to our wonderful sponsors!
Sincerely,
Amy Eden
