Clinton homemakers meet

Greensburg — The Clinton Extension Homemakers met July 2 at the home of Barb Bohman with Deb Greive assisting.

Delicious homemade ice cream was served with various toppings, brownies, cookies, tea or lemonade. The tables were attractively decorated with a patriotic theme.

Lucky prize winners were Betty Chadwell, Nancy Derheimer and Pauline White. Connie Fruchtnicht opened the meeting by leading the Pledge to the flag and the club creed. For devotions, Deb read an article, "Power of a Smile" from the book, "Power of a Positive Mom." Connie read the thought from Abraham Lincoln, "Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties."

Members sang "You're a Grand Old Flag."

Happy Birthday was sung for Ruth Flack, Bonita Hellmich and Deb. Happy Anniversary was sung for Bonita. Fifteen members answered roll call by telling their plans for the 4th of July holiday.

Two guests joined the group; Anne Lindsay and Brenda Kreiger.

June minutes were read with one correction. Dorothy Mahan gave the Treasurer's report.

For Cultural Arts, Connie read an interesting article about Mr. Watson starting the county fairs in 1807. Final plans were made for the pie eating contest, several members volunteered to assist Marilyn Davis with making the pudding pies July 16 at First Baptist church. The contest will be held that evening following the foods auction at 6 p.m.

Donna Flint had helpful hints for hot weather for health and safety. Members reported their volunteer Community Support hours.

For our lesson, Barb gave a report on making home made ice cream, Lessons were assigned for the coming year and Dorothy read a thank you from New Directions for our gift of a gas card.

The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. August 7 at the home of Marilyn Davis.

We were happy to welcome Anne Lindsay back as a member.
