Club Chatter

Country Girls and Guys 4-H Club

The Country Girls and Guys 4-H Group met at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 at Kingston Presbyterian Church. There were 22 members and one guest in attendance.

The meeting was called to order by Club President Emma Geis. The pledge to the American flag was led by Braden Geis and the 4-H pledge was led by Owen Geis.

Roll call was answered by naming the most fun activity you did on our recent snow days. The secretary’s report was given by Emily Martin and treasurer’s report was given by Lane Geis. Health and Safety reports were given by Kenny Geis and Jenna Geis. Business discussed concerned paying club dues, planning out meeting activities for the rest of the club year, the county 4-H Target Enrollment Date of March 1 and the final date of May 15, Livestock tag dates, 4-H trips workshops, and camps, and 4-H Club Officer’s Training on Feb. 15.

After the business portion of the meeting, our special guest, Decatur County 4-H Youth Educator Jeff Hermesch spoke to the 4-H’ers about a variety of 4-H topics including the explanation of 4-H projects offered and opportunities for 4-H’ers to increase their knowledge and learning by participating in the many different 4-H trips, workshops, and camps offered. Many of the 4-H’ers had attended these trips and workshops in the past and plan to attend again this year.

We thank Mr. Hermesch for taking time out of his busy schedule to join us at our meeting.

After Mr. Hermesch’s presentation, a demonstration was given by Eric Trenkamp on hang gliding.

Jenna Geis led the group in recreation, playing an A,B,C 4-H Project game. Everyone had a fun time!

The meeting was then adjourned and refreshments were served by Kenny and Owen Geis, Emma, Lane, and Braden Geis, and Alex Crowe. The next meeting of the Country Girls and Guys 4-H Club will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at Kingston Presbyterian Church.
