---- — From the time I was a small child, I remember people complimenting my mom.
Whether at church, in a restaurant, or even at the grocery store, someone always offered a kind word. This is what made me want to follow in my mom’s footsteps and become a nurse. It seemed like nearly everyone we bumped into felt she had helped them in some way, shape or form.
I didn’t even realize then that I wanted to pursue nursing. I only knew that I wanted to be just like my mom. She is truly the kindest, most selfless woman that I know. If I become half the nurse that she is, I will feel successful.
Although we all know she could start an IV on anyone in Decatur County, I never remember people thanking her for her amazing clinical skills. Instead, they would mention how caring and compassionate she was while they were sick or having surgery.
I have no doubt that my mom has touched many people’s lives, hopefully some of yours. As this chapter is coming to an end, my dad, sisters and I want her to know how much we appreciate all the work she has done for us. We love you and can’t wait to spend more time with you!
