---- — Dorothy E. Crawley will celebrate her 100th birthday Jan. 18.
Dorothy E. Crawley was born in Richland Township, Rush County to Frank and Nessie Humphrey Jan. 18, 1914.
After graduation from Clarksburg High School, she attended Hanover College and received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University.
Dorothy was an elementary school teacher at Richland, Mays and Rushville elementary schools. She retired after 34 years of teaching.
Dorothy married Robert D. Crawley Nov. 29, 1934. Robert was a former Advertising Manager and Editor for Rushville Republican, retiring in 1980. Robert died on Jan. 21, 1988.
Dorothy and Robert enjoyed traveling. After Robert’s death, she continued to travel with friends. Dorothy has been a member of Main Street Christian Church, Rushville, for approximately 70 years. She is a member of PEO, Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers Organizations.
Dorothy is known to many for her poetic writings.
