Linger Awhile Extension
On March 12, the Linger Awhile Extension Homemakers met at the Extension Office small meeting room for their monthly meeting.
President Diann Reisman opened the meeting, leading the Club Creed and Pledge to the Flag. For Devotions, Diann chose “Finding Heaven on my Front Porch.” The thought of the month was given by Alberta McQueen. Roll call was answered by eight members naming the food or drink they associate with Ireland.
Paulette Duerstock read the minutes of the February meeting and Rosemary Schroeder gave the Treasurer’s report. All joined in singing the song of the month, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling.”
Irene Tebbe and Alberta are donating stuffing for the Riley Hospital puppy pillows project. Our club was assigned the October page of next year’s program book, so we made our selections for song of the month, thought of the month, etc. Teresa Horan and Paulette will be attending the Spring Distrrict meeting in Brown County March 13, and six of our menbers plan to attend International Night April 7.
For Health and Safety, Irene Tebbe’s first topic was “Combating Cavities.” Helping prevent tooth decay and fighting cavities could be as simple as making sure that flouride is in your drinking water. Another topic for discussion was “Take it Easy on your Face.” If you want to exfoliate and have sensitive skin, be very careful. The exfoliation process can actually cause irritation.
Diann Reisman presented the lesson “Make your own Laundry Soap.” With three main ingredients, Fels Naptha, Washing Soda and Borax, you will have a product that works great for hard to treat odors and stains, for just a few cents per load compared to 25 cents per load for the name brand products.
The meeting was closed with all singing the Club Prayer. Melly Allgeier won the 50/50.
