club chatter: 50 Extension Homemakers

Greensburg — The 50 Extension Homemakers met June 20 at the home of Juanita Israel.

Isabelle Royse called the meeting to order with everyone repeating the Creed and Pledge. Juanita gave devotions entitled "Live Like This!" Mary Marsh read the Thought of the Month.

Eleven members and three guests answered roll call by stating our Grandmothers' names. Guests were Joan Hall, Sarah Poisel with baby

Bethany, and Marilyn Hadler. Fair dates and entries times were discussed. We are to watch the building from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday night.

Isabelle passed out program books for next year and highlighted features and changes. Linda, Isabelle, and Juanita attended the Area Lesson Leader Day. Bertha and Isabelle attended Conference at Purdue. Bertha was a state first-timer and received a well-filled goodie bag. She recommends that everyone go next year.

Retreat will be September 19-20 at Camp Higher Ground, cost is approximately $66. Aug. 22 will be our next District Day to be held in Switzerland County. IEHA is making a 100th Anniversary pin to sell for $3, you should order by Dec. 1.

They are also making a Memory Book and would like for us to write an entry. Book orders ($15) are due by April 1, 2013. We voted to purchase a book for our club.

Isabelle distributed an International Travel lesson to read on our own. She then gave the lessons "ÉDietary GuidelinesÉ"and "Vitamin D..."

For Health and Safety, Lois Obermeyer read "Hand Wash Cold, Reshape, and Dry Flat," relating life changes using laundry terms.

The meeting was closed by singing the Club Prayer. We enjoyed refreshments of chicken salad, crackers and do-it-yourself parfaits.

Ruth Smith and Marjorie Wettering received the door prizes for wearing the most buttons.

Others present were Mary Alice Smith and Viola Minning. Linda Gommel will host our next meeting at 1 p.m. July 18.
