Clinton Extension Homemakers
The Clinton Extension Homemakers met April 7 following the International Night program at the First Baptist Church. Ten members were in attendance.
The Kitchen Kookies and Twilighters clubs were in charge of the program, with the theme of Indonesia. Alice Woodhull introduced the speaker, Mayasari Hoban from the Mayasari Grill. Typical food from Indonesia was featured. Table decorations were packages of rice, spices were red and white pot holders. The pot holders were made by Carly Thomas and were also awarded as prizes She also made a beautiful red and white afghan which Rita Hellmich won. The Cultural Arts winner was Eileen Fisse and the winner of the purse contest was Helen Swango.
Ten members attended and during the abbreviated business meeting the dues were collected. A card was signed for a member having surgery. Marilyn Jackson is looking for men’s ties to make purses. There is still a need for someone to be in charge of the pie contest and the Decatur County Fair. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. May 6 at Morning Breeze. Please use the west door.
Night Club, March 12
The Night Club met March 12 at Joan Greiwe’s home with Janet Hagerty as co-hostess. Seven members were present. President Joan led the members in the creed and pledge to the flag. Janet Hagerty gave the thought of the month. All sang “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” Joan read Michael Kelly’s prayer, “You are the Light of the World.”
Bessie Ploeger, secretary said roll call with members answering the question, what food or drink do you associate with Ireland? Bessie also read the minutes from the November and December meetings. No meetings were held in January and February due to the snow. Janet Bedel gave the treasurer’s report and reminded folks to pay their extension dues and money for International Night which was held April 7.
