GREENSBURG – Eleven members of the Lone Tree Chapter DAR met on Monday June 16, 2014 at the home of Ann Lindsay where a delicious pitch-in supper was held.
Following the meal Vice-Regent Betsy Moll called the meeting to order and opened with the DAR Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance and American Creed. Barbara Barnett led the club in singing the National Anthem. Secretary’s report was given by Stephanie McDaniel and approved. Treasurer’s report was given by Lois Laskowski.
In lieu of the President General’s message and National Defense, the newest Lone Tree Chapter DAR member, Barbara Neal gave an interesting program on her ancestor, James Colson, who was a Revolutionary War Patriot. She told how she and her family went out to Bath Springs Cemetery in Union County to repair headstones and to clean up the cemetery. The club thanks Barbara for sharing the memories of your founding father with the DAR and extend to her a warm welcome to the Lone Tree Chapter DAR.
For Old Business, The 113th State Convention was held May 16 to 18 with Regent Linda Volk and Vice Regent Betsy Moll attending.
The Lone Tree Chapter DAR received a gold ribbon (excellent rating) on their 2013-2014 program books and Jessie Bailey received a Certificate of Achievement.
For New Business, Merrilyn Gronau was installed as the club’s new chaplain, replacing Barbara Barnett. Sharon Mang volunteered to take over the Good Citizens Chairman replacing Ann Lindsay. Diana Springmier volunteered to replace Barbara Barnett on the calling list.
Signup sheets were passed around for members to sign up for hosting meetings, giving the program and refreshments.
Since there was a lack of interest in having a May Tour, there was some interest from members to take a trip to the Children’s Musuem in Indianapolis to see the Terra Cotta Warriors. Possible date to attend is Aug. 25. Please contact Linda Volk or Betsy Moll if interested in attending.
