Smyrna Guys and Gals

Greensburg — The Smyrna Guys and Gals 4-H Club met June 18 at the home of Morgan and Hunter Burkart.

The meeting was called to order by Emma Spreckelson, president.

Clare Spreckelson, Cloverbud member, led the American pledge.

Blaine Schroeder led the 4-H pledge.

Eight members answered roll call of what their favorite dog breed was.

Those in attendance were McKenzie Peters, Emma, Jane and Clare Spreckelson, Shayne Greiwe, Morgan and Hunter Burkart and Blaine Schroeder.

Jane gave the secretary's report.

Leader Katie Spreckelson gave the treasurer's report.

For club business, all members were reminded to keep a close eye on the fair schedule, as many activities have changed times.

Our Cloverbuds were reminded about the Mini 4-H Day Camp June 20 at the fairgrounds.

The club was thanked for their contribution to Henryville Library of 25 pounds of books.

The club's concession stand will be 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 7 at the fairgrounds for the 4-H Dog Show and Tractor contest. Parents met and the plans for the stand were discussed. Everyone in the club is expected to work the day of the concession stand.

Jane gave the Health report on Six Steps to a Healthy Heart.

Demonstrations were given by many members. Morgan showed the club about Shooting Sports: Archery. Hunter demonstrated about electrical conductors and insulators. Blaine showed how to pot and replant a plant. Jane showed her completed Wearable Arts of tied flip flops, shorts and shirt. She explained how she completed her project. Emma demonstrated how to band a horseÕs mane for show. McKenzie showed the club how to make 4th of July strawberries.

Refreshments were provided by Blaine and drinks by Morgan and Hunter.

Shayne led the group in a fun scavenger hunt.

Any project record sheet that needs to be signed by leader Katie Spreckelson can be brought to the concession stand.
