The Smyrna Guys & Gals met at 7 p.m. May 13, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Smyrna, with President Emma Spreckelson calling the meeting to order.

Two demonstrations started the meeting.

Clare Spreckelson showed the group how to make a loom bracelet while Alan Lecher demonstrated how to plant a watermelon. The pledges to flags followed: American, Clare Spreckelson and 4-H flag, Jane Spreckelson. Roll call was answered by telling everyone your favorite Disney movie. Those in attendance were Emma, Jane and Clare Spreckelson, Morgan Burkart and Alan Lecher.

Member Clare Spreckelson gave the secretary report. Leader Katie Spreckelson gave the treasurer report. Morgan reported that the Junior Leaders had a recent bowling trip.

New business included a discussion about the Ice Cream Social being from 5 to 8 p.m. June 22 at the Smyrna Church. All members are to attend for this community service project. Fundraising ideas were discussed and headed by Morgan. Several ideas were favored, and we will gather more information.

Old business included the club’s outing of a campout. The members decided to have a campout/cookout/games. The date is June 14 and is at the Spreckelson’s home. We will also have a meeting then. Families are invited. Please bring a covered dish to share, lawn chairs, a tent, and a game. Katie will get with you about details.

Devotions were led by Emma with her reading Psalms 42:8. Jane gave interesting animals facts for the Fact Finder Report. Clare gave the Career Focus on a ZooKeeper. She brought many animal friends to help her. Morgan then gave her demonstration on Speaking easy German. Emma showed the members how to set a place setting for a fancy meal, and Jane demonstrated how to make decorative paperclips. Refreshments were provided by Alan and the Nortons. Family member Deanna Burkart was also in attendance. See you next month at the campout!
