Osgood resident honored as "Golden Hoosier"

Greensburg — Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) attended the 2012 Golden Hoosier Awards Ceremony hosted by Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman at the Indiana State Fair where Bill Warren, Osgood-native, was recognized recently. He and 25 others were honored at the ceremony.

"It was a pleasure to attend the awards ceremony," said Rep. Frye. "It can't be overstated how important all of these distinguished individuals are to bettering the livelihood of Hoosiers all across the state.  They make a real impact in people's lives as a volunteer and a mentor."

The Golden Hoosier Award is the highest honor bestowed to a senior citizen in Indiana.

The award was established by Lt. Gov. Skillman in collaboration with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to recognize the outstanding work hard of Hoosier senior citizens to improve communities, help others and serve as mentors and caregivers.

Golden Hoosier Award recipients must be at least 65-years-old and have contributed at least three years of volunteer experience.

"I always feel so privileged to meet people of Bill's character in our community. His selfless dedication to strengthen our community is admirable as he truly embodies what it is to be a model citizen." said Rep. Frye.
