The North Decatur eighth grade girls basketball team fell to Triton Central 39-37 last Thursday.
Leading the scoring for the Lady Chargers was Andrea Volk with nine points, followed by Emma Geis with seven and Myra Steele and Alison Wallpe with six each. Brianna Hagerty finish with five points. Rounding out the scoring for the Chargers was Erin Yager and Abby Lamb with two points each.
“This game was the first time in 14 days the girls saw the inside of the gym,” said coach Phil Nobbe. “They came out playing with a lot rust on their shooting hand. It took them until the second half to find they can still play the game. The girls really fought back to get back into this game but fell short.”
North Stomps Edinburgh Saturday
The Lady Charger eighth graders hosted Edinburgh Saturday and came away with a 62-18 victory.
Leading the way was Brianna Hagerty with 10 points. Supporting offense came from Volk and Anna Wallpe with eight points, seven from Steele, and six each from Geis, Lamb and Alison Wallpe. Finishing the scoring for the Lady Chargers was Erin Yager with five, Lindsey Wietlishbach with four and Josie Clark with two.
“This was a good game played by the whole team,” said Nobbe. “Everyone got into the scoring column and that was nice to see.”
North Tops Waldron Monday
The eighth grade Lady Chargers traveled to Waldron Monday and came away with a 47-9 victory.
Abby Lamb lead the team in scoring with 11 points. Steele and Volk finished with nine and eight, respectively. Geis finished with six point, Hagerty finished with four points. Yager, Wiettlishback, Clark and Anna Wallpe finished with two each. Alison Wallpe finished with one point.
