BATESVILLE Fri, May 16 2008

On a cold, wet evening at Legion Park in Batesville, the Bulldogs dismantled South Decatur, winning 14-1.
Batesville scored 13 of its first 14 runs in the first two innings by taking advantage of three Cougar errors to score six unearned runs.
In the first inning the lead-off hitter, Foster, reached base on an error and came around to score on a single by Meyer. After retiring the clean-up hitter, starter Lincoln Hacker gave up two consecutive singles and a bases-clearing triple by Wallpe. Before striking out Beck to end the inning.
The second inning began with a single that was misplayed in the outfield permitting Miller to score on a wild pitch and an infield out. A walk, another error brought the same three hitters to the plate that prolonged the first inning with the same results. A single by Beck brought Whitt to the plate for the big hit of the inning, a bases clearing home run. Hacker got the final two outs and turned pitching chores over to Brad Harrison in the third inning.
Two more errors in the inning resulted in an unearned run before Harrison escaped unscathed in the fourth despite a hit and another error.
The Cougars got their only run in the fourth inning when Josh England singled, took second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a single by Shayne Miller and scored on an attempted double steal with Batesville getting the out at second.
The Cougars collected only four hits and struck out eight times in their five innings of work.
